F.A.O & Bookings Mobile Farm

How long are the mobile farm visits?

Our mobile farm visits vary in length depending on what your event is but but we will discuss this with you upon booking in order to meet requirements.  Animal welfare is a priority to us so rest assured our animals will have access to water and feed throughout their visit and be kept happy and content!

How much space do you need?

We need space to park our livestock vehicle for the duration  of our visit, next to or within a reasonable visible distance of our animals pens.  Our vehicle is usually a small lorry and is 3.1 metres high (so please check if any height barriers).  We need to be able to safely unload our animals so being near to our vehicle is paramount as we must be able to see them at all times.  The amount of space needed for the animals pens depends on your requirements/which animals you would like at your visit.  Please speak to us and we will be happy to answer any questions.  Our animals welfare is of upmost priority to us therefore we must keep sight of them all times.   If you are at all unsure please speak to us when making your booking so we can advise.

Do you need water and electric?

No!  Our running water hand wash that we bring does not need electric/water to run.  We bring our own water in carriers for the animals too. So if you don't have these facilities on site please don't worry!

Why choose Popell Barns Mobile Farm?

All of our visits are carried out by Farmer Holly in person.  This means we can also educate about life as a farmer and being on the farm, the daily jobs we do,  milking cows, looking after all the animals and the daily running of the farm!  The animals are all cared for daily by Holly and her family therefore we can also tell you all about them and how they are looked after as well as fun facts about what they like to get up to at home!

Farmer Holly is a Leaf Education Member and also CEVAS Accredited so we can cover any curriculum points you may have!

Do your times for visiting include setting up/ packing away?

Your visit time does not include setting up and packing away after so you can be sure to enjoy your full visit time with the animals!

Do you have hand washing facilities/hand sanitiser?

Yes!  We encourage and advise hand washing after touching the animals for hygiene and good practice.  We have signs which we put on our pens as well to promote this.  At the visit we provide a running water hand wash, soap and paper towels.  We also have hand sanitiser available.

Note: Pregnant women and lambs

Please note if you are pregnant please do not touch any ewes/sheep or lambs as there is a very small risk that infections can be transferred and could be a risk to you if you are pregnant.  Please see the link below for more information: https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/news/lambing-season-advice-pregnant-women

How far do you travel?

We aim to only travel as far as an hour away approximately, so it is not too far for the animals, as animal welfare is a priority to us.
